In the space of 2 days we've gone from 1 Tomato seedling poking his head out of the compost
to several all vying for the light and heat that the window and radiator are providing
Its taken 3 lots of sowing seeds to get to this point - woe betide anyone or anything that upsets them
My Clematis in bud. I've had this plant for years but its not been happy for the last 7 or 8 of them, last year I gave it the pruning of its life and then it was moved to a place for the Winter that gets plenty of light, in the Spring it took off and its really loved all the rain we've had [well something had too] and its about 6ft tall and has about 20 buds on it. When it does flower more photos will be taken as it produces very pretty purple flowers that I love.
I've planted some Broad Beans in a bed at home and some at the Lottie, I've had to put chicken wire all around the beans to stop the cat from next door using the bed as a loo and to stop our dog tramping all over it
Tomatoes that were bought from a Garden Centre have now been put into the big trough that K made from pallets a couple of years ago, the seedlings will go to the Lottie if they survive
And now for the exciting [to me] bit - K has done a painting of how we see St Ives, Cornwall. We love it there and would love to be nearer so we could visit more often, but we don't so we can't. Instead he has painted this picture for me, the photos don't do it justice - its colours are jaded as opposed to the vibrant colours that they are in real life.
Its got the seagulls, boats and harbout wall that I love, the blueness of the sea is brilliant and the house are all higgledty piggledty just like they are in real life. I love, love, love my man for painting this for me, he's framed it and its going up in the Dining Room tomorrow

The painting is fantastic! We've had quite a few holidays in Cornwall but visited St Ives for the first time last year. We let the train take the strain and had a lovely day out. Much hilarity was caused by a seagull landing on a woman's head on the beach - she didn't find it funny but KL was hysterical! Our first lot of broad beans at the allotment were demolished by slugs/snails - they've never been touched before so we were gutted.
ReplyDeleteThanks Scarlet, we're waging war on the snails and slugs too. We're staying at Bude this time [in less that 4 weeks] but we'll make the trip down to St Ives. Those seagulls can be vicious when it comes to pinching food from people but they are funny

I used to have abdominal migraines when I was younger. I was told at the time by my Consultant that they go in seven year cycles. I was sceptical at first but not long after the seven years they did indeed disappear, but they have never come back. I was given an injectable migraine medication which I could just put in my thigh and press a button. It was very easy to do myself as it was done by the pen device automatically and only stung momentarily. It worked much faster than the tablets and so when I felt it coming on I could use it and avoid full blown vommiting etc. Hope this helps.

Hi Arwedd, thank you very much for that info. I didn't realise either points - 7 year cycle or the pen. At the moment he gets them often but they are quite amnageable with paracetamol but I shall remember about the pen for the future if they become worse

Wow! K is so talented, the painting is fantastic. Has he thought of opening an Etsy or Folksy shop? I'm sure he'd sell many of his paintings, all those I've seen are wonderful. I've never been to St. Ives. We're staying near to Bude in July so we're hoping to have a trip there this year. Sorry to hear about the migranes, I've never suffered from them but my mum used to so I know how bad they can be.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the comments about K's photos, he's seriously considering selling his art and Etsy is one of the options I've put to him, we're also considering a craft fair somewhere. We've never been to Bude before so looking forward to exploring that part of Cornwall but a trip down to St Ives is definately on the agenda
